Is there anyone who doesn’t like mornings, when the city is waking up and you, with a cup of delicious coffee, slowly pop in everyday rhythm and begin another beautiful day, full of challenges and good emotions? Breakfast is not only the most important meal of the day, but also the time, which we can spend with our family, favorite newspaper or a good book. Tasty and nutritious meal is an inherent element of every morning which determines quality od the whole day.
According to the national tradition and the climate, breakfast consists of different foods – light and easy to prepare or heavier and quite complicated to make. In the morning, on the polish tables arise sandwiches, tea and coffee, scrambled or boiled eggs, various creams, cereal and muesli. Traditional English breakfast consists of eggs fried with bacon, sausages and toasts, French – sweet or salty croissants with orange juice and American – cereal with milk and toasts with jam.
The best time to eat breakfast depends on the lifestyle. However, doctors enjoin to eat first meal of the day two hours after waking up. In Poland we have the tradition to eat early breakfast, and 3 hours later we eat so called “second breakfast” before the noon, while in the east the first meal is eaten later and around noon or 1 p.m. the lunch is eaten.
Dieticians and doctors say, that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it helps an organism to work properly. Its main function is to supply an organism energy after night’s regeneration. Valuable breakfast should consist of big amount of carbohydrates – we can find them in porridge, rice or wholegrain bread.
There is an old Chinese saying: “Eat your breakfast, share your lunch with a friend and give your dinner to your enemy” and it is still actual.
